Description
Laphroaig Quarter Cask matures for five years in standard ex-bourbon barrels plus an additional seven months in small, custom-made “quarter casks” for a finish that gives the whisky more exposure to wood than normally happens – resulting in a soft and velvety edge to complement Laphroaig’s distinctive peatiness.
Laphroaig is the world’s most richly flavoured Scotch Whisky, providing the most distinctive and rewarding malt whisky experience. Founded in 1815, it is one of only a few distilleries that still uses traditional malting floors, and dries and infuses its own malt with the thick blue smoke from old peat-fired kilns. Laphroaig® Quarter Cask revives a once-defunct tradition: the use of the smaller cask size, which ensures increased contact with the oak, creating a soft and velvety edge to complement Laphroaig’s distinctive peatiness. The process is an irresistible doubling of flavour, due to the double maturation in two barrels made of American oak.
